Jane Kramer

The dynamic Jane Kramer as pictured in 1949 with her 1930 Ford Roadster.   Jane is involved with many things in the community.  Besides her love for Chantry Island, Jane works for the Chantry Centre, Library and Museum. Oh, I almost forgot!  She started a church too!  She has a beautifully restored 1930 Ford and can be seen on a summer day with smiling passengers and scarf flying all over Southampton and especially on the shore road.  If you see her stopped and steam coming out of the radiator, take no heed, she's just cooling off and will be on her way in 5 minutes!

Jane taught swimming and was the life guard at the Long Dock for many years.  She well remembers rowing a Lighthouse Keeper out to Chantry Island after one too many at the Walker House.  Jane would row him out, leave the boat and then scamper along the groyne that led from the Island to the gap.  She would then swim the gap and be home in time for dinner.  She'll still help anyone who needs a ride home after one too many of anything.
