Clayton Knechtel

Clayton Knechtel is shown on the right in the door of the Chantry Island Lighthouse.  He was the Keeper on the Island from 1937 until 1941 having taken over from John Klippert.  Art Knechtel, his son, was the longtime mayor of Southampton.  Note the half moon window.  Later this was bricked in to avoid vandalism.
